The People Project, exhibition of Lucy Keeler | 05/31/2011 | |
 The People Project began while Lucy Keeler was living as an artist in residence at la Macina di San Cresci during 2008. During the following two years the project has developed and grown in a studio in the Northern Territory of Australia.
The final collection of paintings was previewed in remote northern Australia and will launch at la Macina di San Cresci in Italy, before travelling to Sydney during 2011.

The ability to comprehend one’s own aging process, generates an evolving internal response from every person, regardless of culture, gender or stage of life. Does the topographic map of a person’s face evolve, as it ages, in proportion and accordance with outlook?
The People Project explores the parallel between an individual’s thoughts and the facial contour changes associated with the aging process. The research process has involved interview and survey studies, photography, literary research and topographic facial mapping (a technical study of the geographic contours of the skull and skin, resulting in a detailed map of paths and lines).

Lucy Keeler is an award-winning Australian artist, born in 1981 in Sydney. Numerous solo and group exhibitions including: Primrose Gallery, Cremorne NSW, Grand Pacific Blueroom, Paddington NSW, Parliament House, NT, Perth Town Hall, Perth, WA, Arts on Bourke, Surry Hills, NSW, Sydney Town Hall.  In un contesto culturale di ricerca e confronto rispetto i nuovi contenuti visivi delle correnti fotografiche attivamente espressive e produttive sul territorio italiano ed internazionale, venerdì 20 Maggio alle 18:30 il Centro Sperimentale di Fotografia di Roma organizza, presso la sua sede didattica e formativa un incontro con il giovane autore e fotografo Alessandro Imbriaco rappresentato dall\'Agenzia Contrasto.
“Alessandro Imbriaco e\' nato a Salerno nel 1980. Nel 2004 si trasferisce a Roma per frequentare un master di fotografia presso la Scuola Romana di Fotografia. Con i suoi lavori ha vinto il Premio Speciale per il “miglior portfolio” al Festival di Savignano 2006 ed è stato selezionato tra i finalisti al premio Epson Kiwanis 2006 e al Premio Atlante Italiano 2007. Ha esposto i suoi lavori in diverse mostre personali e collettive. “

CATTURARE IL TEMPO. LENTEZZA E RAPIDITA\' NELLA FOTOGRAFIA di Diego Mormorio | 05/04/2011 | |
 Presso il CSF Adams di Roma , giovedì 12 Maggio 2011 alle ore 19,30 presentazione del nuovo libro di Diego Mormorio:“CATTURARE IL TEMPO. LENTEZZA E RAPIDITA\' NELLA FOTOGRAFIA”. Edizioni Postcart 2011 Collana postwords.
“Dopo il successo di Meditazione e fotografia, Diego Mormorio affronta la storia delle immagini fotografiche con un approccio del tutto insolito e innovativo. In un libro agile e di godevole lettura, racconta la storia della fotografia a partire dal tempo di posa, trattando così il tema della rapidità e della lentezza.
Torna brevemente all’origine greca dell’immagine fotografica, per poi partire dalla prima fotografia di Nicéphore Niepce, ottenuta con otto ore di posa nel 1826-27. Prosegue poi la sua carrellata di immagini, passando dalla prima dagherrotipia in cui compare una persona e giungendo infine alle immagini ottenute con l’illuminazione stroboscopica ottenute dall’ingegnere elettronico americano Harold Eugene Edgerton e dal grande fotografo di origine albanese Gjon Mili.
Diego Mormorio va dunque dalle immagini ottenute con lunghissime pose fino a quelle realizzate con un milionesimo di milionesimo di secondo, non senza aver portato il lettore nell’affascinante mondo del primo reportage, realizzato nel 1843 dagli scozzesi David Octavius Hill e Robert Adamson, nel villaggio di pescatori di Newhaven , vicino a Edimburgo, ora parte di questa città. “
NOTA BIOGRAFICA
Diego Mormorio si occupa in particolar modo dei rapporti tra la fotografia e la cultura filosofica e letteraria. Tra i suoi libri ricordiamo Gli scrittori e la fotografia (Editori Riuniti, 1988), Un’altra lontananza (Sellerio, 1997), Storia della fotografia (Newton Compton, 1996), Paesaggi italiani del ‘900 (Motta, 1966), Vestiti. Lo stile degli italiani in un secolo di fotografie (Laterza, 1999), Meditazione e fotografia (Contrasto, 2008). Come narratore ha pubblicato La lunga vacanza del barone Gloeden (Peliti, 2002), La regina nuda. Delazioni e congiure nella Roma dell’ultimo Papa Re (Il Saggiatore, 2006) e W Garibaldo. Tre racconti garibaldini (Punctum, 2007).

Dear Artists,
I am happy to report that we have the great fortune of working with a few pro-bono lawyers. This means that some of you will meet with a lawyer and speak about any legal issues you may have. The best part - the session will be free! In order to be eligible, you must meet the following yearly income requirements:
Singles – under $30,000 per year
Couples – under $40,000 per year
Couples with children – under $50,000 per year
Organizations – an annual budget of under $40,000 per year.
These limits are set by legal pro-bono rules and are unfortunately non-negotiable.
If you meet this requirement, please send me a special case that you wish to discuss. The issue must be related to your artwork and cannot be personal (such as divorce). Some examples include intellectual property, general liability, or contract issues, or in the case of an organization, employment law matters.
If interested, please email me at rgourvitz@nyfa.org by Friday, May 13th. We will then review each case, and see which ones best meet our lawyers’ specialties and interests.

Artwork from more than 20 artists that responds to the present state of the U.S. economy, as well as issues of trust, security, and value in today’s society.
Most of the work has been created in the last 2 years (since the 2008 meltdown), and as ArtsWestchester’s headquarters is a 1920’s era bank building in downtown White Plains, some of the work has been commissioned specifically for this show/space.
