Congratulations to the fifth Group of five artists selected by our panel for “The Best of 123Soho 2006Art Show".

They are Eric Guazon, John Haro, Tsewang Tashi, Scott Andrew Spencer, and Roslyn Yang. Please keep in mind that these were culled from over 1,557 works of art, most of which were of very high caliber, and that the submissions were not limited to the United States , but are international in origin.
The order in which the artists are being displayed, is not indicative of the quality of the work.
The next 5 artists will be displayed in July.

Tsewang Tashi
What I pay attention to is to the real people and environment as my source of inspiration. I believe that if contemporary life around us is ignored, real contemporary art cannot be created. I avoid seeking novelty in my works, because a lot of these things are imaginary or expectations by outsiders who are looking for "Shangri-la" or "Savage Culture". I am living in a real society and have feelings and thoughts as other people in the world. I want to speak as humankind in general.

John Haro
My work holds two themes; the first being the weathered and distressed appearance you come to find in objects both in the US and abroad, in places like Morocco, Tuscany, and India. It's an affect that only time can genuinely create. The second theme is the colorful sheerness and translucency of silk fabrics, and that is something created by our own hands by coloring and weaving the fabric; It's a style I came to fall in love with during my travels to the Far East. Each of my paintings is layered with different colors of paint, some are seen, and some only affect the layers set on top of them. It's a process that involves time, patience and care making each painting come to life with its own character and tale.

When I watch my reflexes, count heartbeats, suck in air, I can't help but think how many times these bodily functions have taken place without me. For the most part, these are not my directives. I know Someone or Something is watching after me, keeping vigil.
