Congratulations to the third Group of five artists selected by our panel for “The Best of 123Soho 2005Art Show".

They are Ruben Nusz , Olga Sugden, Carol & Imran Mian-Starr, Mark Planisek, and Shiou-Ping Liao. Please keep in mind that these were culled from over 1000 works of art, most of which were of very high caliber, and that the submissions were not limited to the United States , but are international in origin.
The order in which the artists are being displayed, is not indicative of the quality of the work.
The next 5 artists will be displayed in March.

Shiou-Ping Liao (American,born in Taiwan )
"It is possible to see Liao's "Knots" as reflections of human relations, inevitably marked by mutual dependence and conflict. Indeed, Liao's work, in general, though not concerned with the human figure, is ultimately about human life. His paintings and prints express the artist's changing view of life-first as adventure and mystery, then as a state of attachment to other human beings that is both utterly meaningful (love, friendship) and utterly inescapable."

Ruben Nusz ( United States )
My still lives reflect the pop nature of America , bouncing back and forth between middle class wealth (iPOD) and the disposable, meager object (Styrofoam). Ultimately I want my work to speak to both the present and the past, as well as the culturally informed and those ignorant of painting's past. What's relevant to me is the stillness, the silence and the solitude that the art of painting and photographic still-life brings to the world.

Olga Sugden (Canadian, born in Ukarain )
"In her latest body of figurative/abstract work, her love of illustration is well evident. She always tries to produce paintings that uplift, inspire and give hope for the future. In these recent oils she explores a number of themes, which could best be described as a 'celebration of life and living".

Carol & Imran Mian-Starr ( United States )
Our "design vision is based upon mixing and blending of contemporary tastes with classical work from the past to create artifacts of value for tomorrow."

Mark Planisek ( United States )
"The variety of visual elements in Planisek's art evokes animated, dream-like visions. In many of his images we see the recurring depiction of eyes that see, search, inquire, and challenge. Through the eyes, Planisek suggests, we can see into someone's inner core, just as they can see into ours."
