ayers of Mythology - Series
My present work uses images from Greek Mythology to explore the relationship between rationality and the emotions. The Greek gods are known to be arbitrary, capricious and unpredictable. They dictate and do battle with each other and the forces of nature. In most of my paintings Poseidon, the unchallenged master of the seas is nonetheless confronted by forces beyond his control. The maelstrom that results from the clash between the gods and nature provides the paintings with their emotional power. The paintings involves layered images intervened with free flowing areas of acrylic and rice paper.
Within an abstracted composition inspired by Roman frescoes and Renaissance paintings, using from, texture and color, I explore the relationships between individuals, their emotions and the natural world as well.
