Shibori Magic Vest
Textile
Brief statement: I call this vest Shibori Magic, because I used the
Japanese Shibori hand-dying techniques on the fabrics that I then incorporated into the
vest. Cottons and silks were hand-dyed, crinkled and then couched with various yarns and
decorative threads. Both free-motion embroidery and quilting are used along with a foliage
embroidery design using rayon and metallic threads. Green glass beads are sewn on the back
of the vest above the crinkled dyed silk. I lined the vest with dark green Designer's
Cloth lining. The Japanese sling braid and tassel was hand made with matching yarns. |
