Tribute to the Natives

Brief statement: Wrapcoat/jacket using Japanese Kimono-like style.
Pieced and appliqued with several types of silks and embellished with trims, beads and
tucked jacquard silk of mid-sleeve section. Bottom of sleeves are box pleated and bound
with red/black iridescent silk that is also used throughout the jacket. Native Americans
and their horses are painted on raw silk and Crepe de Chin, using polychromatic silk
screening. The images are scattered on both front and back. Free motion embroidery in
varying patterns compliment the feeling of movement. Fully lined with black satin.
Fastened inside with ties and outside with a glass button. |
