A Village Dance
|National Palace Museum
In 1998, treasures form the National Palace Museum were lent for the French exhibition Memoire d'Empire-Tresors de Musee national du Palais. In response to that momentous occasion, the French government has selected 80 paintings and drawings from the collections of 27 public institutions for display in Taiwan in From Poussin to Cezanne: 300 Years of French Painting. These represent the works of 64 masters active in France during the period spanning the 16th to 19th centuries. Including the works of such famous artists as Poussin, Manet, Monet, Cezanne, Degas, Gauguin, and Van Gogh, this exhibition represents (in terms of both quantify and quality) one of the finest displays of Western art to be held in Taiwan in recent years.
