I Am the News

In November of 1975, a pivotal event occurred which was to change the entire course of the artist's life and future artistic development. It was then that Mr. De Nunzio met and courted his future wife - Marianne Eberle of Bad Wiessee, Germany - who was vacationing in Florida with relations. She invited him to visit her in Bavaria, where she ran a bed & breakfast establishment with her mother. Six months later, the artist made his first fateful journey to Germany. The romance continued and the couple married two years later in 1978. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter in 1980, and have lived in Germany until the present.

Since emigrating to his new homeland, Mr. De Nunzio has applied himself completely to the self-development of his artistic talents. He has worked both commercially as an illustrator, and as a fine artist - achieving notoriety for his portraits, landscapes, genre-paintings, and unusually thought-provoking paintings of Christ.

Michael De Nunzio was born the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dante De Nunzio in Providence, Rhode Island, on October 9, 1944. He resided with his parents and younger sister in Providence’s Mount Pleasant suburb. His artistic talent was recognized early in life by his teachers, and the budding artist was offered supplementary art education classes at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Upon graduating from high school in 1962, Mr. De Nunzio continued his education at the Rhode Island School of Radio & Electronics. Nevertheless, he maintained an interest in the creative arts, drawing regularly for his own personal enjoyment. In 1966, he volunteered for active duty with the U.S. Navy, and achieved the rank of Radioman 2nd Class before being honorably discharged in February of 1970. He then began full-time employment as an electrician in his hometown, and continued practicing this trade in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after moving there in 1973. However, his natural artistic tendency also made itself evident during these years, and Mr. De Nunzio realized additional earnings from his talent as a free-lance sign painter and characteristic for friends and local newspapers.
