![]() Ms. Datcu is the recipient of several grants and fellowships including a 1997 Clowes Fund Regional Fellowship, a 1995 Arts/Midwest/NEA Regional Visual Artist Fellowship, a 1994 Jerome Foundation Fellowship, a 1992 Pollock Frasner Foundation, Inc. Grant, a 1992 McKnight Photography Fellowship. Her works have been exhibited nationally, and will be featured at the International Print Triennial Cracow 2000, in Poland. Ms. Datcu's work is represented by the Flanders Contemporary Arts in Minneapolis, Minnesota. |

Ioana Datcu is a native of Romania. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1981. Although she studied biology in her native country, she turned from science to the visual arts after arriving in North America. She received a B.F.A. in 1987, and a M.F.A. in 1991, both in painting and drawing, from the University of Minnesota. Ms. Datcu's work combines the visual languages of painting and photography. She works primarily with black and white photographs on which she paints with oils. She also works primarily with black and white photographs on which she paints with oils. She also works on canvas and glass. She views her works as an expression of the investigation of her relationships to the world, society, family, herself, and God. |
