| Barbara Coleman has a Master's degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of New Mexico. She studied Classics at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Art at the American University at Aix-en-Provence, France. She was an Urban Designer in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and taught and coordinated the first year drawing an design program, and graduate level classes in drawing and graphics at the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of New Mexico for many years. She now paints full-time. Ms. Coleman is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, and has own awards for her pastels in national and internationally juried exhibitions. Recent exhibitions and awards include: The Pastel Society of America's annual exhibition in New York City; the Pastel Exhibition at the Hermitage Museum, Norfolk, Virginia; First Place Award for Pastels in the New Mexico Fine Art Exhibit; the American Artist Magazine Award; and Fourth Place Award in the Pastel Society of New Mexico National Show. She exhibits her oils and pastels at Dartmouth Street Gallery in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Act 1 Gallery in Taos, New Mexico. Her work has been published in books and magazines. She is included in Who's Who in America; Who's Who in the World; and Who's Who in American Women. |
