| Ken Krafchek's career as an artist has spannedd two decades. He wroked fro a number of years as a free-lance artist, specializing in magazine and newspaper illustration. His paintings have appeared in such national publications as The New Yorker, The New York Times and The Washington Post. Mr. Krafchek's work has been shown in numerous national juried shows, including the Society of Illustrators, New York Art Directors Club, Print's Regional Design Annual and Graphic Design USA. Mr. Krafchek is an honor graduate from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a B.F.A. in Design/Illustration. He also holds and M.F.A. in Studio for Art Educators from the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. He is currently employed at the Institute as a full-time professor. He serves as Acting Chairman of the Illustration Department. In addition, Mr. Krafchek is Director of Community Arts Partnerships (CAP), a new initiative designed to recruit and train college art students to serve as mentors to urban youth. CAP has implemented a variety of after-school arts programs throughout the city of Baltimore in partnership with local community organizations. Mr. Krafchek lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife, Deborah, and two teenage daughters, Erin and Alexandra. |
