John Holbrook Mother Rose |
||
| John Holbrook is a thirty-five-year old private investigator from Texas, whose surveillance camera equipment has been requisitioned by God to a higher calling . "Mother Rose" is a picture of a homeless woman. The image is one of fifteen photographs from a series entitled, "Saints". The "Saints" show the homeless, and other social outcasts, within their divine illumination. The photographs do not incorporate any digital manipulation. The scenes depicted are authentic. The artist has added the 'halos' to the subjects with a darkroom technique devised in the late nineteenth century. "My art is a spiritual endeavor," the artist observes. "I can take no credit for its beauty. The credit belongs to God." |
