Patricia Friend is a well-known Washington-based artist.  She exhibited her paintings for several years at the top-rated Franz Bader Gallery in Washington, and exhibited at the Graham Gallery in New York.

Ms. Friend was educated at the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.  She received a B.A. from Goucher College, and a M.F.A. in painting from American University in Washington.  She also studied with the late Laura Douglas, a student of Hans Hoffman.  Aside from many one-person and group exhibitions, she was featured in National Security Bank's advertising campaign, "Master of a Fine Art", comparing masters of their craft to the Banks' expertise.  Her painting was also included in a calendar and postcard book entitled Women in Art, sold in museums nationally.  Three paintings of hers were reproduced as note cards for National Diabetes Association's fund raising.  Her works have been displayed throughout the world in the State Department's "Art in Embassies" program, and highlighted in a school textbook.  She showed paintings in a one-person invitational exhibition at the International Monetary Fund, and is included in numerous public and private collection of locally known professionals, Strathmore's Who's Who and Who's Who in America, and is on file at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
